Ms. Brewer's Employment Experience Class
Transitioning students from school to the world of work through Work Based Learning

A couple of students enjoyed their first day on the SWU grounds crew today. We rotate students through job sites every 12 weeks to provide them many different experiences and to assist them in figuring out what they like and don’t like, as far as employment.

Students calculated their orders with gratuity and sales tax, ordered within their budget, and saved enough for a quick trip to QT for milkshakes!

Today we visited The Dream Center and learned about their amazing services, classes, programs!

Ready to hit the road to independence!

Look at all those happy faces making progress by leaps and bounds!

As a 3rd Party Tester with the SC DMV, I am able to read the SC Beginner’s Permit test to students within the SDPC. In three weeks time, we have had 13 students earn their Beginner’s Permit!

Students with open SC Vocational Rehabilitation cases and approved Work Experiences are receiving their first stipends of the 2022/2023 school year this week for their Work Based Learning! Hard work pays off!

Christian graduated in May 2022. He was a Senior Intern at Southern Wesleyan University in the Dining Hall. After his internship, Christian was offered competitive employment there. He is maintaining his employment and navigating the CAT bus to get to and from work! We are so proud of you!
